In response to the 41st anniversary of Earth Day last year, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner composed the extraordinary 41 Strings. This is the first time I´m hearing about it and I loved it. The piece is part concerto in the classical tradition, but with the modern rock ‘n’ roll feel one would expect from Zinner.

A musician who consistently surprises with his versatility, Zinner conducts and plays. Using Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as inspiration, 41 Strings is also hopeful and ultimately joyful.

Joining Zinner for the 41 Strings’ second ever outing are friends and co-collaborators Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circle, Black Dice, The Boredoms) and Ben Vida (Soft Circle, Town and Country, Bird Show). Together with a core band and members of the Australian Youth Orchestra they complete the large string ensemble. Information from here

En respuesta al 41 aniversario de la celebración del día de la Tierra, Nick Zinner de los Yeah Yeah Yeahs compuso una obra esxtraordinaria llamada “41 strings” (41 cuerdas) Esta es la primera vez que la escuche y me encanto!. Esta pieza es parte concierto en la tradición clásica, pero con un toque moderno de rock lo cual se esperaría de Zinner.

Un musico que consistentemente nos sprprende por su versatilidad , Zunner junto con sus colaboradores Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circlem Black Dice, The Boredoms) y Ben Vida (Soft Circle, Town and Country, Bird Show). Juntos con una banda principal y miembros de la Orquesta Juvenil de Australia completaron el ensamble de cuerdas.

Icy Peppermint! Happy Friday!

Recently the weather here in Querétaro México has been so crazy , it´s been so hot.. but crazy hot! And at it´s peak an unexpected rain comes and that only makes everything hotter. So I’ve been drinking a lot of water, but I wanted to show you something that I like to do, add some natural flavor to it. So here is what I do when I´m thirsty! It´s so fresh and natural and my favorite ingredients… PEPPERMINT and ICE! 🙂 This is not a fancy beverage it´s just natural flavored water.

I have the fortunate of having a lot of fresh peppermint in my front yard, it grows freely with almost no care.. it happens to grown under the garden hose faucet and every time I water my yard it´s dripping over the peppermint.. maybe that why it grows so beautifully. Recientemente el clima aqui en Querétaro, México ha estado loquisimo,ha esta súper caliente … pero tremendamente caliente!. Y cuando esta en la mayor temperatura derrepente una inesperada lluvia que solamente hace que haga mas calor. Así que e estado tomando muchísima agua pero quería mostrarles algo que me gusta hacer, añadir un poco de sabor al agua natural. Así que esto es lo que hago cuando tengo mucha sed! Es súper fresco y natural y con mis ingredientes favoritos Yerbabuena y Hielos! 🙂 Esta no es una receta muy elegante es simplemente agua con sabor natural.

Tengo la fortuna de tener mucha yerbabuena fresca en el jardín de mi casa, crece casi solita sin mucho cuidado, casualmente crece bajo la llave del agua del jardín así que cada vez que riego el jardín hay un pequeño goteo de agua sobre esta, creo que es lo que hace que crezca tan hermosa.Fresh peppermint | Water | Sugar | Ice… lots of ice!

You just have to boil a little bit of water and once it´s boiling turn your stove off and ad a couple of peppermint twigs and let it sit for 5 minutes and grind the twigs a little to squeeze the flavor out of them . Add as much sugar as you prefer. After 5 minutes remove the twigs and let it cool completely. Add ice cubes and enjoy! You could squeeze half a lemon if you like to add a citrus taste!.

Solamente tienes que poner a hervir agua y una vez que este hirviendo apaga tu estufa y agrega dos ramitas de yerbabuena y dejalas reposar por 5 min y muele un poco las ramitas para sacarles mas sabor. Agrega el azúcar de acuerdo a tu gusto. Después de los 5 minutos remueve las ramitas y dejalo enfriar totalmente . Agrega cubitos de hielo y a disfrutar! Podrías exprimirles medio limón si quisieras un toque cítrico!

New Section! Favorite Artists: Agnes Cecile

This is a new section that I think you and I are going to enjoy very much. My plan is to feature ones a month the artists that I personally like, Most of the artist that I admire are because of the technique that they use, some times is the composition of the work and other times is just what the accomplish by creating their work. I studied in an art high school were I had the option of choosing my speciality between music, dance, theater and visual arts, since I have always love art I chose Visual arts, after that I studied one year of Visual Arts in collage but I ended up changing for Industrial design because I love it and I wanted to learn someting new. But Art has always warmth my heart. This time I´m featuring a surprisingly young artist Silvia Pelissero she was born in 1991, in Rome, Italy. She is best known as Agnes Cecile. She went in an art high school in Rome, than she has continued as a self-taught. I really like her work specially her watercolors, I know they have a little sad feeling theme, but the colors, the details, the composition and the expression of the faces are very appealing. I strongly recommend that you watch the two videos that I posted below and see the full process of her paintings. Enjoy!

Esta es una nueva sección que creo que ustedes y yo vamos a disfrutan mcuhisimo. Mi plan es mostrar una vez al mes los artistas que personalmente me gustan mas. La mayoría de los artistas que admiro es por la técnica que usan, otras veces es por la composición de su obra y otras por lo que logran al hacer su trabajo. Yo estudie una preparatoria donde tenia la opción de escoger una especialidad entre música, danza, teatro y artes plásticas, como siempre me ha gustado el arte escogí Artes Plásticas, después estudie un año de Artes plásticas en la universidad pero termine cambiandome a Diseño industrial porque me encanta y quería aprender algo nuevo. Pero el arte siempre ha llenado mi corazón. Esta vez les mostrare a una artista sorprendentemente joven ella es Silvia Pelissero ella nació en Roma Italia en 1991. Ella es mejor conocida como Agnes Cecile. Ella fue a una preparatoria de arte en Roma y después fue meramente autodidacta. Me encanta su trabajo especialmente sus acuarelas, Se que es un poco triste su temática pero sus colores, los detalles, la composición y la expresión de los rostros son bastante atrayentes. Realmente recomiendo que vean los dos videos que puse abajo para que vean como es el proceso completo de sus pinturas. Disfrutenlo!

DIY Refrigerator pen holder

hELLO AND HAPPY moNDAY.. I want to share with you a DIY, super easy and suuuuuppperrr funtional. When I´m in the kitchen I always need a pen or pencil but I don´t have an specific drawer or pen holder near me, I keep reaching my purse when I need to make a list.. I´m always making list.. it´s my thing!. So here it is!.. super simple and you probably have all the materials in your home already. FIY.. I made this DIY was inspired in one picture on pinterest that I couldn´t find today!

   HoLA y fELiz LUnEs!.. Quiero compartir con uds. un DIY (Hazlo tu mismo), súper fácil de hacer y suuuuppperrr funcional!. Cuando estoy en la cocina siempre necesito una pluma o lápiz para escribir y no tengo un lugar especifico como un cajón para tener plumas a la mano,  termino buscando en mi bolsa para encontrar una pluma..siempre estoy haciendo listas.. es lo que hago! jaja..Entonces aquí esta mi diy.. súper sencillo y seguramente ya tienes todos los materiales que necesitas en tu casa. Por cierto esta idea la tome de un pinterest que hoy no pude encontrar.

| a pepper or tea rectangular can or any other vintage can, works better with the ones with flat surfaces | one or two strong magnets or an adhesive magnet sheet (strong) |

| una lata de pimienta o cualquier otra lata antigua, funciona mejor con las que tiene superficies planas | uno o dos imanes fuertes o imanes en hoja adhesivos |

If you are usign the conventional magnets just put them inside your can and that´s it!, but if  you are using an adhesive magnet sheet just peel it and stick it onto the back of your can , make sure to clean the can very well first!

Si estas usando imanes convencionales solo colócalos dentro de la lata y listo!.. pero si estas usando las hojas adhesivas solamente despréndelos del protectores y pégalos en la parte trasera de la lata. Asegúrate de limpiar muy bien antes de aplicar el imán.

You can use this type of cans to but they are heavier and you´ll need a stronger magnet other wise it´s gonna slide down.

Puedes usar este tipo de latas pero son muy pesadas tendrías que usar un imán muy fuerte porque podría resbalares hacia abajo.

It´s better to use the cans that have already rounded edges so you won´t cut every time you grab a pencil.

Es mejor usar latas que ya traen las orillas redondeadas para evitar que te cortes cada vez que saques un lápiz.

And thats it!.. easy .. super functional and little vintage touch to your kitchen decor! 😉

Y eso es todo!.. fácil y súper funcional .. y es un toque vintage para la decoración de tu cocina. 😉

My new moleskine!

This Friday we had a teachers meeting to celebrate teacher´s day… a little late, but It was a fun night, The principals gave me this incredible watercolor sketchbook that I wanted for so long, the reason was that I have been faithful to my job for 4 years. I guess I have never told you guys that I give art classes to kids ones a week in my aunt and uncle´s school CEC (Christian Educational Center). Is really fun to teach kids, they are so creative at times.. haha.. not always!. But is nice to see them grow and be surprise when they learn something new!. I recently posted the mother´s day project that we did!.. so much fun to see their faces. So I just wanted to show you guys my present and I hope I could draw something nice enough to post it here! :s

 Este viernes tuvimos una reunión de maestros para celebrar el día del maestro… unos días tarde!. fue una noche muy divertida. Los directores me regalaron este increíble cuaderno de bocetaje para acuarela que quería desde hace tiempo, la razón fue que he sido fiel a mis clases por 4 años. Supongo que nunca les he comentado que doy clases de arte para niños en CEC (Centro Educativo Cristiano). Es realmente divertido enseñar a niños son muy creativos en ciertas ocasiones.. no siempre.. jaja. Pero es bonito vernos crecer y sorprenderse cuando aprenden algo nuevo!. Recientemente subí un post de un proyecto que hicimos para el 10 de mayo día de las madres.. súper divertido ver sus caritas jaja.. Bueno solo quería mostrarles mi regalo y espero poder dibujar algo lo suficiente bueno como para postearlo aqui!

The desert´s orchid

A few months ago my family and I went to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, México and we visited a place called “Fabrica La Aurora” this is an incredible place that it use to be a textile factory since 1902, but now is a mixture of art galleries, art studios, shops and restaurants it´s amazing.. I might do a post about it later. Anyways.. we were walking around and saw this amazing cactus with the most exotic flower I have ever seen coming from such a small cacti plant I even post it on my instagram..(Shown below) So long story short yesterday that same flower appeared in my garden. My mom has always had cacti plants she loves the because ones in a while the bloom and it is an amazing thing to watch. So here are the blooms, the funny thing and sad is that we think it only blooms one day each flower, the day we saw it one of the buds bloom and sleep at night and the other one opened the next morning you´ll see in the pics. So I just wanted to share this amazing gift we receive in our yard.  Hope you like it and if you know the name of this type of cacti, let me know!

  Hace unos meses mi familia y yo fuimos de pasea a San Miguel de Allende , Guanajuato, México y visitamos un lugar llamado “Fabrica la Aurora” este lugar es increíble, solía ser una fabrica de textiles desde el año 1092, pero ahora es una mezcla de galerías de arte, estudios de arte, tiendas y restaurantes es increíble.. Tal vez haga un post sobre este lugar mas adelante. Entonces estábamos caminando por este lugar cuando vimos un catus con la flor mas grande y exótica que he visto salir de un tan pequeño cactus, hasta la publique en mi instagram.. (foto abajo) Para hacer la historia corta.. ayer esa misma flor apareció en mi patio. Mi mamá siempre ha tenido plantas cactaceas le encantan, porque de vez en cuando florean y es algo increíble de admirar. Entonces aquí están las fotos de las flores, lo chistoso y triste es que pensamos que florean por un solo día cada flor, el día que las vimos una de las flores estaba abierta y la otra cerrada, en la noche se durmió y se cerro. La mañana siguiente la otra se abrió lo podrás ver en las fotos. Pues solo queria compartir con ustedes este regalo que recibimos en nuestro jardin. Espero les guste y si sabes el nombre de este tipo de cactacea por favor hazmelo saber!

Tiny garden, quick make over!

Hi, this post is just to show you guys a very quick way to improve a space, you don´t need  big investment to make something pretty. Also to participate in a summer link party that Jenna from “Rain on a tin Roof” organize with other 3 bloggers.

This is my back yard.. small!.. I know!.. unbelievably small. 😦 But what are gonna do?.. Make it pretty!. With some very inexpensive thing this turned out to be a pretty comfy place. A few thing that I use are: pallets to make the seats | foam and fabric to make the seating cushions and the pillows | Some bamboo sticks and  yards of cheesecloth very inexpensive and functional fabric to create a tent | I also use some place mats to create an outdoor rug. I Hope you find this helpful and you can apply some ideas for your space!.  enjoy!

      Hola, este post es solo para mostrarles una manera rápida de hacer mejoras a un espacio, no necesitas una gran inversión para hacerlo bonito. También porque quiero participar en una Summer link party que organiza Jenna de “Rain on a tin roof” y otras 3 bloggeras.

Este es  mi patio trasero.. pequeño lo se! increíblemente pequeño. 😦 Pero que le vamos a hacer?… hacerlo bonito!.. Con cosas sin mucho costo este lugar se transformo en un lugar muy cómodo. Algunas de las cosas que utilice: Tarimas para hacer los asientos | espuma y telas para hacer los asientos y los cojines | Algunos palos de bambú y tela de manta de cielo que es muy económica y funcional para hacer una carpa. | Manteles individuales para armar un tapete de exterior. Espero encuentres esto útil y puedas aplicar algunas ideas para tus espacios. Disfrutalo!

  

Making history

First of all I was to say that I live in Querétaro, México. Its a beautiful city most known by the “arcos” wich is a aqueduct (Picture shown below). In 2011 the word Querétaro was named the most beautiful word in the spanish language, it was an online contest where more than 33,ooo people voted, The word Querétaro was nominated by the famous mexican actor Gael García Bernal (FIY Sooo gorgeous). Yesteday I find out that Mäka and FENDI are making history with an amazing bag here in Querétaro my city.

      Primero que nada quiero decirles que yo vivo en Querétaro, México. Es una ciudad hermosa mas conocida por sus “arcos” que es una acueducto. (Muestro fotografía abajo). En el 2011 la palabra Querétaro fue nombrada la palabra mas hermosa del idioma español, hubo un concurso online donde mas de 33,000 personas votaron, la palabra fue nominada por el famoso actor mexicano Gael Garcia Bernal (…guapísimo). Ayer me entere que MäKA y FENDI están haciendo historia con una bolsa increíble aquí en Querétaro mi ciudad.

MäKA is a government project (DIF) which goal is to promote and support indigenous people from Amealco, Querétaro by buying them their embroideries and applying them on modern clothing with craft detailing. This project started on 2010 with 40 artisans and today it helps more than a thousand.

This is all because of the governor´s wife Sandra Albarrán de Calzada,which is the president of this Government sistem called DIF “National System of Integral Family Development” and also MäKA.

The italian brand Fendi for the first time in history is using materials that comes from outside the companys workshops, this purse contains materials created by the artesians with their famous geometric patterns.

This is a limited edition that it´s only going to be sold in Saks Fifth Avenue “Sante Fe” (México city) and I belive is only by request.

Mäka es un proyecto de gobierno por parte del DIF, que su principal meta es apoyar a los indígenas de Amelaco, Querétaro al comprarles sus bordados y aplicandolos en ropa moderna con detalles artesanales. Este proyecto inicio en el 2010 con 40 artesanas y ahora apoya a mas de 1000.

Todo esto gracias a la esposa de Gobernador Sandra Albarrán de Calzada que es Presidenta del DIF (Sistema nacional de Desarrollo integral de la familia.) y por supuesto el proyecto MäKA.

La marca italiana FENDI por primera vez en la historia estará utilizando materiales provenientes de fuera de sus talleres, esta bolsa contiene materiales creados por las artesanas con sus diseños geométricos.

Esta bolsa será de edición limitada. En venta en Sacks de Santa Fe al parecer solo podrá ser vendida bajo pedido.
